When Hell Freezes Over

hehehe

That's what you get when hell freezes over. The Red Sox win the World Series and Bush gets re-elected. They are skating on ice in the underworld.

I haven't posted in a few days, and I'm just about to head out of town to visit family in Maine. I wanted to just say hello to my adoring fans (which I think is me right now) and say that I'll have a weighty topic when I get back. Monday morning I'll talk about how politics is unable to solve the world's problems and why. I'll even offer a hint as to what can make this earth a kinder, gentler place.

Well, I'm off. Let's see if we see the first snow of the year this weekend. Go Pats!!

You are not your only fan. : )

There is at least one counter culture person on the opposite coast that reads your posts (once I realized that all I was doing before was hitting the first post and didn't see the others).

You bring up many good questions in your posts. To throw my two cents in I think there is something you haven't touched on, voter ambivalance. In our very self absorbed and material society it seems more important to people that they have a new TV, the latest DVD and taking the kids to soccer practice. Who wants to take the time to vote when the power only changes between the two relative evils?

Candidates today don't tells us how they are going to do something just that they will do something. Unfortunately one politician, even the President, can't do things by themselves and currently neither party is interested in doing anything other then ensure they are in power and both parties will say/do anything to convince the public their Way is the only way.

Only 60% of eligible voters? And that is the best turnout in 36 years? At least these means that only 31% of the nation voted for Bush.

If differently minded people are going to change politics as usual we need to get the 40% of non-voting yet eligible voters to start caring and if somebody can do that maybe the 60% of people that do vote will finally find themselves a candidate worth voting for.

I hope you had a good time in Maine,

A West Coast fan of Bill W.
